GIVING COLD SHOULDER

posted by Elshane on Feb 15 2017, under Fashion

The flat over-the-knee boot trend isn't going anywhere...

This weekend, since it is still winter (I have to remind myself this since it's in the 70's here in LA), I paired these amazing (and on SALE) boots with a wool skirt for an effortless Los Angeles winter vibe. *Just add tights if you live in the real winter world!

Of course, any outfit is complete with a Chanel bag, especially if it's tie dye and unique like this baby that I get to call mine! Well, she's not THAT exclusive... you can have her too, here, if you really want!

It's just so true... a good look head to toe is ALL about the accessories!

THE PAJAMA TREND

posted by Elshane on Feb 7 2017, under Fashion

I'm screaming for 1,000 count bed sheets from head to toe. Or am I? This look is mysterious, it's chic, it's fabulous. It's pajamas.... or is it?

First let's start with the silk cami. A top so versatile that it would double as both your favorite party top, and your Sunday am breakfast in bed go-to. It gives all the feels. I layered it over a white t-shirt to give it a daytime cool vibe. And hey, the camisole (in an array of colors) is on sale here for $35 from $106!

Now let's discuss the pants. Dare me to wear them again tomorrow? Ok, fine, I will! I can't take them off. I love drop crotch as you all know, but I also love how they're so skinny on the bottom. They look clean, crisp, and... comfy.

And who can put baby Lamu in the corner? My furry slides are back in stock here, and not to be missed this time around.

All in all, we've got a pajamas party that has me in all sorts of happy moods. What do you think of this pajama lewk?!

A MAUI SWIM STORY

posted by Elshane on Jan 23 2017, under Health/Fitness

It felt really good being back in the sand without the remains of my baby weight. At 9 months postpartum, I feel 100% back to my old self. It seems that for as long as the baby takes to grow inside of you, it takes just as long to leave.

Being out of the swimwear mentality last summer due to pregnancy, it was fun to experiment with new swim trends this time around. Don't get me wrong, I was definitely one of those preggos who went teeny-weeny-yellow-polka-dot-bikini-and-bump at the beach, but I just didn't invest in new suits at the time.

So this trip was the perfect excuse to get me back in the swimwear game. I love the new bikini styles that wrap around your waist like this Vix swimsuit-- it felt crazy, sexy, cool. Ya feels?

HOSTING A STUDIO 54 DISCO BASH!

posted by Elshane on Jan 10 2017, under Home Decor/Entertaining

When the chance presents itself, it's hard for me to turn down throwing a party. In this case, my husband was turning 35 this past weekend, and we knew we had a good throw down to give in us.

I immediately knew I wanted a theme bash, and soon after, picked Studio 54 disco for its ultra glam, high spirited nature. I knew it would be a hit.

When you throw a theme party and require your guests to dress up, it's important to set the tone with the decor. You can't expect someone to go out of their way to find/make/source a costume, only to arrive to a party that doesn't feel 360 WOW.

I set out to create that WOW effect with endless metallic fringe curtains, properly placed lighting, glitter, sequins, a black and white dance floor, a DJ, festive dessert, and a whooooole lotta FUNK!

Step 1: Needed a red, wavy wig. (Costume store, check.) Gold sequin turban? (Etsy, check.) DVF sequin wrap gown (how much more 70's can you go...check.) Glittery shoes (Jimmy Choo, check.) Vintage gold belt (Flea Market find, check.) Oh.... and....

Dressing my husband up as Andy Warhol, a.k.a. possibly the biggest known fixture of the Studio 54 era. (Such an easy costume, check, plus!)

And now for the decor...

I bought 100 yards of super cheap sequin fabric online and used it as drapery over all of the furniture to give an ultra sexy, nightclub 70's vibe.

Metallic fringe curtains doubled as entryway details and selfie walls all around the house.

Target sells LED balloons... yes, they literally glow in the dark.

Glitter everywhere... on every table, on the floor, on the bar, in between my toes. It's all in the details.

I rented up lights in red and pink and placed them throughout the house. The dance floor was black and white checkered and I had a disco ball and fog machine to set the mood. F-U-N-K!

All the party staff (two bartenders, two housekeepers, and DJ) were decked in 70's. I mean... if you were at Studio 54 in the 70's, wouldn't your bartender have an afro, too?

And then there's Homer, our son dog in his custom made (by meeeee) Moroccan tuxedo originally worn to our wedding. He partied until 4am, just sayin'...

I presented an endless dessert bar filled with my husband's favorites (ok, and mine, too). I hired Sweet E's Bake Shop to curate the insanely delicious selection. We feasted on double triple chocolate everything, s'mores this, cookie dough that, cookies 'n cream over here, secret peanut butter bars over there, confetti cakes, a tower of mini cupcakes, snickerdoodle blah blah blah, cookies, brownies, oh wait, and more, and more, and more!

Willy Wonka would have been IMPRESSED to say the least!

The rest is history.

I laid it on thick to the guests to give it their all with their costumes. No one disappointed. Out of all 120 guests, I counted about 30 afros, 10 ridiculous mustaches, endless polyester, sequins from head to toe, and laughs to last an entire year.

Considering throwing a theme party? Studio 54 70's Disco is a guaranteed groovy time!

HOLIDAY WITH THE FAMILY

posted by Elshane on Dec 28 2016, under Baby/Motherhood

I've been spending the last week of December rather uninterrupted with my family. This is really the only week of the entire year that both my husband and I don't feel {toooo} bad about checking out from work for a few days. So I've been soaking it up!

Although we love a good adult-only date day or night, lately we've been having the most fun spending our free time hanging out with this special lady you see pictured here. She's just at an age where she is 100% FUN all the time. We can't get enough!

This Ice Cream Castles romper has been a wardrobe staple on her for months now. Onesies are such a no brainer for cold weather. Also, my fur slides that I'm wearing are finally back in stock here. Get them while you can-- they go QUICK!

I hope everyone has a beautiful holiday and New Year with their family and friends! Tons of love and see you in '17!

DROPPING NEWS ON DROP CROTCH

posted by Elshane on Dec 14 2016, under Fashion

I love when people ask me where I got these pants. It's easy to casually drop "Jerusalem" with a smile and a wink. No biggie. Want them? Just buy a plane ticket, all groovy.

And then I discovered this online shop that sells all of these pants direct from all of the fabulous countries that they originate from (India, Israel, etc). All on one purchase page! AS IF! But, since you guys are my loyal readers, and since it takes a strong, bold, funky, fly woman to pull these off, I am letting you in on the secret.

Here's where to find these pants online! Oh, any P.S.., they usually don't cost more than $15. Yes, you read that number right; it's not a typo. I didn't forget a 0 at the end. $15 for these pants. Here.

You're welcome.

HOW TO WEAR: OFF THE SHOULDER TOPS IN WINTER

posted by Elshane on Dec 8 2016, under Fashion

The comeback of the white T-shirt has been serving the greater good for women's closets for months now. Case in point? The amazing The Royal Native Zebra off the shoulder top that I recently got and was itching to wear. These days, anything layered with a white T-shirt underneath is a recipe for success.

It made me so happy to break out my off the shoulder top in mid-winter, that I couldn't help but kick my heels up, grab my baby girl, and do a little dance!

{Score any Zebra print from The Royal Native for 20% off right now by using the code ZEBRA at checkout! That makes this top a cool $61.}

A STROLLER ON THE GO

posted by Elshane on Dec 6 2016, under Baby/Motherhood

They grow so fast! But it keeps getting better...

Now that Sunday is so mobile and active at her ripe age of 8 months, we love taking her everywhere with us on the weekends. I used to lug my 25 lb stroller everywhere I went-- the schlepping, OMG! Break it down, throw sorry I mean use all my arm strength possible to jam it in the back of my trunk, put it back together, narrowly squeeze through crowds with my wide load... I think you get the idea.

There's a time and place for the big mama stroller-- but when you're on the go on the weekends, something ultra light, foldable, thin and portable is just what the...Pediatrician ordered. ;)

A friend recommended Joovy as her go-to "umbrella stroller" brand. (Get it? It folds up on the go like an umbrella.) I've been loving the accessibility of it, and I know Sunday feels pretty fly in it, as well!

I mean, really though. What does she have to complain about? The girl has a multiple car garage for herself. We're doing just fine.
